Annika ran through the knee length grass, it tickling her bare feet, her dress flowing in the wind hitting her knees lightly, bouncing as her feet hit the ground. She giggled as her twin brothers, Sigmund and Brantley, chased her, getting close, but not quite reaching her, their fingers grazing the air around her white flowery gown. She smiled and waved at the twins playfully, getting two identical scowls in response. She giggled again and picked up speed, leaving her brothers several paces behind her. She continued to run down the hill, turning up brush and daisies as she raced past. She ran until her eyes caught sight of a large tree. Her face lit up with a mischievous smile. She allowed herself to slow to a skip and hid behind the tree, giggling at her clever hiding spot. Neither of the boys should be able to find her now! Lying down and reclining across his leather couch, Austria sighed into the plush material and rubbed his face in mortification.
“I should not have told her that,” he whispered, “I should not have told her my love for him. Oh, dear . . .”
His mind was whirling, his cheeks heating, and he covered his face in lonely embarrassment. The little country seemed warmed and downright happy at his revelation, and seemed trustworthy enough, but . . . he hadn’t really known her that long. The whole time that Liechtenstein had even existed as a country was practically a mere blink in his lifetime. Hell, he has known Germany and Hungary for much longer but he still hasn’t told them!
